CAW Monthly Book Club!

Reading a book alone is all well and good, but have you ever talked about one with other people?
While we get further lured into mediated isolation, we can still find escape from the enclosure through discussion groups around the works we love (or don't) that prefigure the end of empire! There is a long history of militants developing revolutionary action collectively through their encounters with books. There is a reason why states go for censorship: reading is dangerous. It is a space of freedom that cannot be touched by external control, where ideas develop and desires get ignited.
Starting next month (June), Shuli will be hosting a monthly book club for CAW members. Each month we will read a section of the current selection and meet on a Sunday on the CAW discord book club channel to discuss it. This will be an informal space with no prior knowledge necessary. The conversations will focus on what each of us feels moved to discuss (whether inspiring, generative, confusing, or disputed). Shuli will come prepared with some questions and passages in mind to start the conversation, but everyone participating is invited to bring their individual interests into the discussion.
No teachers, no students!
Let's conspire together!
Subscribe now to CAW and join the book club. Once you are a member, you can access the discord server, where the book club channel is available.
Our first book is Sophie Lewis's recent Enemy Feminisms (Haymarket Books). We will discuss the first 5 chapters.
Our first meeting will be June 22 at 5pm EST.
